Under the framework of the “Good Governance Forum”, the Observatory for Public Service and Good Governance (OFP) at the Saint Joseph University – Beirut, in collaboration with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), organized a virtual panel discussion entitled:
“The role of the media in establishing good governance”. The panel included a line up of experts and journalists:
– Dr. Charbel Maroun, Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Saint Joseph University
– Professor Fouad Zamkahel
– Hayat Mirshad, Executive Director of Fe-Male and Editor in Chief of Sharika wa Laken
– Walid Abboud, Editor-in-Chief of MTV News
– Georges Solaj, Editor-in-Chief of Al-Jomhouria newspaper
– Roula Mikhael, Executive Director of Maharat Foundation
The session discussed governance in Lebanese media, where Mirshad emphasized the importance of prioritizing human rights and feminist issues in media along with ensuring media’s accountability towards citizens mainly the most marginalized.
