Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund organized a global event on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council Open Debate on Women, Peace and Security, highlighting the urgent need to amplify the voices and support more women working on the front lines of conflict and crises. This expert panel was moderated by Hayat Mirshad, Feminist activist and director of Fe-Male- Lebanon, and included speakers from the governments of Germany, Canada and Ireland, the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) and women leaders from Nigeria, Palestine, and Afghanistan:

– Ambassador Antje Leendertse, Permanent Representative of Germany to the United Nations
– Jacqueline O’Neil, Ambassador for Women Peace and Security of Canada
– Ambassador Geraldine Byrne Nason, Permanent Representative of Ireland to the United Nations
– Sanam Naraghi Anderlini, the founder and executive director of the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) and INGO Board member of the WPHF
– Husna Ibrahim, the Executive Director of Women and Youth Empowerment Initiative, (WOYEIN) in Nigeria
– Ayat Kanaan, REFORM organization in Palestine
– Zarqa Yaftali, a women human rights defender from Afghanistan and the director of the Women and Children Legal Research Foundation
